Almond Chocolate Crockpot Cake

Super simple and delicious almond chocolate cake! No icing required and this cake is something your won’t soon forget, moist, chocolatey and amazing. Our home gave it 6 thumbs up!
Ingredients
  • Yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 1-2 egg or egg substitute
  • 1/8 cup of water (optional)
  • small bag of almonds or other nut
  • chocolate chips (chocolate and white)
Instructions
  1. Mix all the ingredients together except the almonds and chocolate chips which will go on top
  2. Add the eggs last. We added a little water to the mixture to make sure it was the right consistency (that is optional)
  3. Bake on high for about 1-2 hours. Crockpots bake different check yours after an hour. We also placed a paper towel inside the crock to trap moisture and avoid a soggy cake.
  4. Once the cake is finished, remove it from the crock. A crockpot sling is preferable but not required.
  5. Add the chocolate chips and almonds immediately and serve warm!

Super simple recipe and most of the ingredients you will have at home in your pantry or frig!

Place paper towels on the crock so that it traps moisture and helps the cake bake.

Chop the almonds (or any nut you would like)

Add the almonds and chips to the cake.  I would actually recommend you pull the cake out of the crockpot first and then add them.  They will melt quickly on a hot cake, no icing needed.

Crockpot Soda Cake

Crockpot Soda Cake

Oh. Yes. I. Did. This was so so fun to make. Everyone loved it and I was so surprised that it tasted great too!! Each sodas flavor came through (unlike when you bake them) and the colors were vivid! Highly recommended especially if you like moist cakes!
Ingredients
  • 1 CUP of the following any soda you’d like to add
  • 2 White Cake Mixes (plus the ingredients required)
  • 2 Cans of Icing (We used cream cheese)
  • Sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Mix the white mix and it’s ingredients together in a mixing bowl
  2. Grease the crockpot and add mix
  3. Bake until a toothpick comes out on clean (in my crock it’s about 1 1/2 hours on high)
  4. Let the cake rest for 30 minutes
  5. Slice the cake into strips depending on how many sodas you have
  6. Mix soda with a small amount (3-5 drops) of food coloring for vivid color
  7. Treat the cake like a dulce-de-leche cake and add soda on top of pieces in bowls
  8. Put back together and FREEZE for 2 hours
  9. One the soda has set, ice the cake and refrigerate or freeze until you are ready to serve!

This cake was super simple to make with few ingredients!

Mix ONE CUP of soda and food coloring in a separate bowl to bring out the vivid color, then add to the cake

Leave in the bowl for about 5-15 minutes.  It doesn’t take long at all.  This is the dangerous stage, if you leave them to long, the cake will fall apart when you go to remove it.  (Be careful!!)

Put them back together and FREEZE.  I froze mine for about 2 hours until the soda set.  This allows you to ice the cake with ease!

Doesn’t it look pretty, no one would ever know the surprise that lay underneath!

And voila!  You’ve got a cake!!  If you want to try a suicide cake (mixing all sodas at one) just take a small slice and try it!!  Some say that mixing all the sodas amounts to a suicide soda, I say yummy in cake form!!  Enjoy!!

Skinny CrockPot Orange Poppyseed Cake

A great low fat, delicious tasting dessert! This recipe utilizes the orange instead of lemon for a unique twist on a guilt-free treat!
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups of HeartSmart Bisquick (or low fat bisquit mix)
  • 1/2 of Stevia (you can use Splenda or other low calorie sweeteners remember to adjust the amount accordingly)
  • 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of 1% milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • a little orange zest (save orange for glaze)
  • Glaze
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp of poppy seeds
  • squeeze orange to get juice, add enough juice until appropriate thickness is reached.
Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl place all of your dry ingredients into the bowl. (Except your ingredients for the glaze)
  2. Add in your poppy seeds
  3. Crack the egg into the dry ingredients
  4. Add the rest of the wet ingredients
  5. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are just incorporated
  6. Careful not to over mix
  7. Glaze: squeeze orange to get juice,
  8. add enough juice to the powdered sugar until appropriate thickness is reached.

Reese’s Crockpot Cake (Delicious FAIL)

Reese’s Crockpot Cake (Delicious FAIL)

This was a slight crockpot fail. Now don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but as you’ll see in the pictures, we had a few problems. Next time (and yes there will be a next time) it can be fixed, and no one will have any additional whip cream to hide the craters. (Again see the pictures below) ;)
Ingredients
  • Two boxes of cake mix (and related ingredients)
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Instructions
  1. Grease the crockpot
  2. Add the yellow cake mix
  3. Add the chocolate cake mix
  4. Add the Reese’s on top (thus fixing my mistake)
  5. Bake for two hours on HIGH (or until a toothpick comes out clean)
  6. Enjoy!

I was in the mood for something different tonight….I had a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and I thought….hmmmm.  Chocolate, Peanut butter and cake…PERFECT!

I mixed my cake mixes, placing the yellow cake on the bottom, in a sprayed crockpot.

I then placed lots and lots of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the batter

Then I added the chocolate batter, yea I know what you’re thinking….why did I do this in a crockpot?!  Could you wait 2 hours for it to get done?!

With most all baking in the crockpot, cover the crockpot with some paper towels (or a towel) to trap moisture and seal in heat.

Two hours later….I couldn’t wait to get it out!!!

Then disappointment!!  Many of the Reese Cups sank to the bottom and burned slightly! :(

But no matter, find the good pieces and make due!!  This cake was completely eaten and enjoyed, some pieces just had more whip cream than others! ;)

So how would I turn this Crockpot Fail into a Success…well that’s simple, instead of layering my cake in the middle, I’d simply place the Reese’s on the top of the cake.  If they sink slightly that’s okay, because they’d have to sink a good ways to get to the bottom.  I would also add a little peanut butter to the yellow cake batter to make it more like a Reese’s!  Enjoy my flop, hopefully you can make it pop!!

Crockpot Hot Fudge Cake

This is a super delicious and so easy hot fudge cake! Its moist, chocolatey and made all in your crockpot!
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 3 cups of boiling water
  • Sprinkle mixture
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
Instructions
  1. Mix sugars, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl
  2. Stir in milk, softened butter and vanilla, mixed until blended
  3. Coat crockpot with nonstick spray
  4. Pour mixture into crockpot and spread evenly
  5. In a small bowl, blend the sprinkle mixture of brown sugar and cocoa powder
  6. Add mixture to crockpot (see picture below)
  7. Bowl 3 cups of water and then add to the crockpot, DO NOT STIR
  8. Cook on high for about 1 1/2 – 2 hours depending on your crockpot.
  9. The cake is finished when you insert a fork and it comes out clean.
  10. Best served warm!!

Add mixture to the crockpot (after adding the wet ingredients minus the water)

Now add the cocoa mixture

Boil 3 cups water

Add to the crockpot and DO NOT STIR!!!

Let it cook for around 2 hours (mine took a little longer and I placed a towel on the lid to trap more heat)
